La Brède, home of famous writer Montesquieu, is located at the heart of the Graves region, the historical birthplace of the Bordeaux vineyards.

The Chateau Magneau is an ancient property kept by the Ardudats family, direct descendants of a line of wine-growers dating back before the reign of Henri IV.

Un Savoir-Faire ancestral

An ancestral know-how, where everyone follows their own skills, contributes to the reputation of Chateau Magneau’s wines.

The Terra Vitis approach guarantees a quality production method that respects the environment.

It due to the constant effort to ensure harmony with nature that ‘Careful Agriculture’ is part of the center of our domain. This environmental approach, present at each stage of production, promotes respect and balance for nature.

Un Savoir-Faire ancestral

The terrain consists of more than 40 hectares of vines spread out over the La Bréde and Saint-Morillon districts. 25 hectares contain vines of white grapes, with 16 hectares of black grapes.

The terrain, predominantly hard gravel, is ideally situated on well exposed hills. The resulting fruit produce elegant dry white wines and reds with a unique sharpness.

Chateau Magneau has a vast storeroom of more than 1000 m², completely air-conditioned, equipped with a considerable-sized stainless steel vat and two wine-presses. There is also a thermal-regulation system that controls fermentation temperatures perfectly.

In the ever-continuing search for quality, a new barrel cellar has been constructed.

La recherche constante de qualité

It is with the greatest care and attention that Jean-Louis manages the vineyards, wine-growing and production of wines.

According to tradition, the red wines are left to mature for one year in the barrels, with a percentage of new casks adapted to the structure of each vintage.

The Cuvée Julien, a white wine vinified exclusively in barrels, deserves special attention and is often awarded various honors.
